It is situated at 810 m height above sea level, on the fringes of the Triglav National Park. Despite it being a distinctively alpine territory Kranjska Gora is easily accesible and the centre of action, therefore for decades now it has been a prime tourist spot in all seasons.

Hotels, private rooms, restaurants, a casino, grand shows - enough of everything for those in search of a lively tourist pulse and for those in want of peace, intact nature, relaxing walks and wanderings on the less or more demanding mountain tracks.

Ski slopes are appropriate for all skiers, ranging from beginners to competitors: the demanding FIS ski run in Podkoren, where competitions in alpine skiing take place; a beginners run called Mojca, a night run on the Dolenc slope, a natural skating ring named Jasna, baths and saunas in hotels, a roofed tennis court, etc. All ski slopes in Kranjska Gora and Podkoren are additionally covered with snow (cca 70 ha), which enables you to enjoy your skiing from December until mid March. Planica with its new Nordic centre, jumping hill and ski jumps is also world-renowned. Kranjska Gora is a very popular choice for golfers as well, since there are many golf courses in the vicinity - Trbiž (Tarvisio), Beljak (Villach, Fakker See), Vrba (Velden).
